Washington, D.C. - The San Francisco Giants have traded right-handed pitcher Chris Heston to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for a player to be named later, club Senior Vice President and General Manager Bobby Evans announced today.
The 28-year-old spent his entire eight-year career with the Giants' organization, appearing in the big leagues in each of the last three seasons, going 13-12 with a 4.16 ERA and two complete games in 38 games (32 starts). He tossed the 17^th no-hitter in Giants franchise history on June 9, 2015 at New York-NL, becoming just the third Giants rookie to throw a no-hitter.   
Heston made San Francisco's Opening Day roster for the first time in his career in 2016, making the team out of spring training as the long reliever. He made just four appearances with the Giants in April, allowing six runs on nine hits in 5.0 innings before being optioned to triple-A Sacramento, where he spent the remainder of the season. He made 13 starts with the River Cats before being placed on the 60-day disabled list with an oblique strain. Overall, he went 2-9 with a 4.54 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) with triple-A this past season.
Heston has gone 48-54 with a 3.64 ERA in 151 games (145 starts) in his minor league career.
The Giants now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
