Giants welcome Astros and Nationals to town

Homestand features: Special Q&A with Hall of Famer Juan Marichal, Junior Giants Day, Irish Heritage Night, and Breast Cancer Awareness night

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. - The 2014 World Champion San Francisco Giants return home for a six-game homestand against the Houston Astros (August 11-12) and the Washington Nationals (August 13-16).

Tuesday, August 11, is the second Irish Heritage Night of the year. Fans who purchase a special event ticket will receive access to the Irish Heritage Night pre-game party in Seals Plaza from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., a ticket to the game against the Astros, and a limited edition Irish-themed Giants Messenger Bag. Cultural food and drink will be available for fans to purchase at the pre-game party, and cultural performances will take place on the field for fans to enjoy. Proceeds from each special event ticket sold will benefit local charitable programs in the Irish community.  

It is also Say Hey Tuesday as CSN Bay Area will host Sports Talk Live, Giants Pregame Live, and Giants Postgame Live from Willie Mays Plaza. Fans are invited to come out early and watch their favorite sports analysts. The first 500 fans who come to Willie Mays Plaza and get in line at the Comcast SportsNet tent will receive a Catcher Backpack.

Wednesday, August 12, is Junior Giants Day at AT&T Park. Prior to the game, over 4,000 Junior Giants and their families will partake in a parade around the field. The recipients of the Junior Giants Willie Mac Award will also be recognized in a home plate ceremony alongside Willie McCovey.

On Thursday, August 13, the Giants will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead during the annual Grateful Dead Tribute Night at AT&T Park. Special event ticket holders will receive a ticket to the game versus the Nationals and a 50th Anniversary Grateful Dead/Giants T-shirt. In addition, VIP ticket holders will receive a VIP-edition Grateful Dead-themed Giants Long-sleeved T-shirt. VIP ticket holders will also have access to the Triples Alley pre-game party from 4:45-6:45 p.m., with live entertainment and complimentary food and beverages. Members of the band and members of the Garcia family will be in attendance to perform the National Anthem and throw out the first pitch, and will be present during the pre-game party. Proceeds from each special event ticket sold will benefit local non-profits.

Friday, August 14, is the fourth and final Orange Friday Happy Hour of the year. Special event ticket holders will receive admission to the Orange Friday Happy Hour pre-game party, presented by Lagunitas Brewing Company, in Seals Plaza from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and a ticket to the game versus the Nationals. The event will be complete with live music featuring The Killer Queens. Ticket holders will receive a complimentary Lagunitas beer or non-alcoholic beverage.

Friday is also Breast Cancer Awareness Night, hosted by the Giants and alumni Jeffrey Leonard.  VIP ticket holders will receive admission to the Triples Alley pre-game event from 4:45-6:45 p.m. and complimentary food and beverages, as well as a limited-edition Giants Mini-bat each individually autographed by Jeffrey Leoard. Proceeds from the event will benefit the One Flap Down Foundation, which is centered around helping single parents with their day to day struggles of household responsibilities while they fight their battle against cancer, and to promote awareness that cancer can affect anyone, at any age.

On Friday, Brandon Crawford will also be presented with Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association's Heart and Hustle Award as the Giants' nominee. This award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and tradition of the game.  

Saturday, August 15, is Education Day at AT&T Park. There will be a dinner reception in the EMR taking place from 4:00-6:15 p.m. and a pregame ceremony taking place on the field to honor the 2015 Harmon & Sue Burns Scholarship recipients and Giants Community Fund Education Grant recipients. It is also Strike Out Day at AT&T Park, which will take place in O'Doul Plaza.

Also on Saturday, the first 40,000 fans will receive 2-for-1 Flight Vouchers presented by Virgin America. The first 20,000 fans will receive a Foam Finger.

On Sunday, August 16, the first 20,000 fans will receive a Juan Marichal Statue, presented by Coca-Cola.

Sunday is also "Los Gamers" Day. Special event ticket holders will receive early ballpark entry to a private open mic Q&A featuring Giants Spanish Language Broadcasters Erwin Higueros and Tito Fuentes, and Telemundo's Gabriel Sotelo. Select Spanish-speaking Giants players and coaches including Roberto Kelly, Hensley Muelens, Santiago Casilla and Giants Hall of Famer Juan Marichal will be present at the event from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Los Gamer Day ticket holders will also receive a commemorative Juan Marichal T-shirt, and a ticket to the game versus the Nationals.

Additionally on Sunday, all kids 14-years and younger are invited to run the bases following the game, presented by See's Candies. Sunday is also the Giants official autograph day, when two players, coaches, or alumni sign autographs following the conclusion of batting practice. Autographs are for kids 16 and under.
