Gibson tired of injury-forced callups

PHOENIX -- If manager Kirk Gibson doesn't have to see another Minor Leaguer make his D-backs debut for a little while, he won't mind too much.

When asked Sunday if there were any players who stood out to him and who he would like to see reach the Majors soon, Gibson joked, "Well, we've seen enough of them."

Because of injuries, the D-backs have had eight players make their Major League debuts this season. Some of those players, such as outfielders Ender Inciarte, David Peralta and Chase Anderson have stuck. Others, like Bo Schultz, have had only cups of coffee in the big leagues.

"We've had all the injuries, and we're not looking to have any more," Gibson said. "We're looking to try to get our guys back."

The D-backs do have more players close to reaching the Majors, though.

"We follow the guys down there, what they do, and we look at the daily Minor League reports on the guys," Gibson said. "Our Minor League system is having a really good year. They're very strong."

After pitching well in Spring Training, top prospect Archie Bradley has dealt with injuries this season. But on Saturday, he pitched seven innings four Double-A Mobile and struck out 10 batters while giving up two runs on three hits.

Gibson was noncommittal about whether Bradley would get a chance to make his debut this season.

"It's possible," he said. "He's got to continue to throw the ball better and better and see what kind of opportunities are made available. You never know.

"He really hasn't thrown that many starts, and he's working on some things down there and he has to be more consistent at it. … When he does that, if there's a need up there, I'm sure he'll get consideration."
