Hairston set for hip surgery on Monday

SAN FRANCISCO -- Dodgers infielder Jerry Hairston will undergo surgery on his left hip Monday in Vail, Colo.

Although the surgery is arthroscopic, it is not minor. Doctors will repair a torn labrum and shave an irregularity in the head of the femur, which caused the injury. Hairston will be on crutches for three weeks and the rehab can last anywhere from three to six months.Hairston said he was bothered by the injury through most of the season and he's been on the disabled list since Aug. 12. He will earn $3.75 million next season in the final year of a two-year deal.
