Brock gets Game 5 first-pitch honors at Busch
Hall of Famer and World Series hero throws ceremonial offering to Kelly
ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinals called on a postseason legend to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for their must-win playoff game Wednesday.
Hall of Famer Lou Brock was on hand for Game 5 of the National League Division Series at Busch Stadium, where he tossed the ceremonial first pitch to pitcher Joe Kelly shortly before the Cards and Pirates squared off.
Brock played 16 of his 19 Major League seasons with the Cardinals (1964-79), amassing 3,023 career hits (2,713 with St. Louis). He was a six-time All-Star, a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 1985 and his No. 20 has been retired in St. Louis.

The speedster led the Cards to the World Series titles in 1964 and '67, and to the NL pennant in '68. Brock's 13 hits in the 1968 World Series is a record, and his 12 in the '67 Series is tied for fourth most. He stole a record seven bases in each of those series.
Brock currently serves as a special instructor for the team.
