Hamels secures 100th win with standout start

PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies left-hander Cole Hamels picked up his 100th win Saturday in impressive fashion.

He allowed three hits, one run and struck out 10 in seven innings in a 12-1 victory over the Reds.

Elias Sports Bureau said Hamels is the fifth pitcher since 1900 to record 10 or more strikeouts and allow three or fewer hits in a century-mark win (100th, 200th, 300th, etc.). The first four also accomplished the feat with their 100th win: Dean Chance (June 1968), Don Sutton (September 1972), Chuck Finley (May 1995) and Justin Verlander (August 2011).
