Hamilton back in lineup after resting knee

ANAHEIM -- Josh Hamilton returned to the Angels lineup on Sunday, two days after leaving the game early with a sore left knee.

Hamilton missed Saturday's game although manager Mike Scioscia said the 33-year-old outfielder wanted to start the game. Hamilton had started the previous 46 games before Saturday.

Hamilton, who is hitting .291 with five home runs this season, started in left field Sunday. Scioscia said there was no thought of sliding Hamilton in as the designated hitter to ease him back.

"If he's healthy, he's ready to play left field," Scioscia said.

Efren Navarro replaced Hamilton on Friday and started in left field Saturday. He went 3-for-6 with three RBIs in Hamilton's absence and started at first base on Sunday.
