Hanley exits after taking pitch to toe

BOSTON -- Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez had to exit Tuesday night's 8-3 win over the Rockies with a contusion on his right big toe. The injury occurred when Ramirez was plunked in the fourth inning on a pitch by lefty Jorge De La Rosa.
X-rays were negative and manager John Farrell said he expects Ramirez to be back in the lineup on Wednesday.
After hobbling to take his base and staying in the game for the rest of the half-inning, Ramirez was replaced by Travis Shaw on defense to start the fifth.
This was the first game this season regular third baseman Shaw wasn't in the starting lineup, but his downtime was short-lived.
