Hanson throws simulated game, nearing return

KANSAS CITY -- Right-hander Tommy Hanson threw a five-inning, 75-pitch simulated game on Saturday in Arizona and appears to be on the verge of rejoining the Angels' staff.

"He had a good workout," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He'll be evaluated to make sure, but he should be another guy we're folding into the rotation this week if everything comes out all right."

Hanson was 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA in five starts prior to his stint on the restricted list.
