Harper homers, Gio deals vs. Mets

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- hit his Major League-leading sixth spring home run, and the Nationals carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of a 3-1 win Thursday over the Mets at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.

Harper's solo shot marked the first run against Zack Wheeler, who hit 97 mph in his second Grapefruit League start. Wheeler also allowed a RBI double in the second inning and a run-scoring single in the third. He threw 50 pitches, striking out two with a walk.

"I just felt a little rusty, but it will come around," Wheeler said. "The pitches were coming out good."

Continuing his strong spring, Nationals starter did not allow a hit over five shutout innings.
"It was just one of those days you just keep going and keep attacking," said Gonzalez, who has now given up just one run on five hits in seven innings this spring.
It wasn't until doubled with one out in the seventh that the Mets recorded their first hit. Moments later, pinch-runner Andres Gimenez scored the Mets' only run on a fielding error.
