Stage set for RBI World Series Senior Divsion final

Harrisburg RBI 7, Venice RBI 1
Harrisburg RBI's Sadiq Burkholder tossed a complete-game three-hitter, carrying his club to a berth in Thursday's Senior Division championship game at the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities World Series at Target Field.

Harrisburg RBI topped the Boys & Girls Club of Venice RBI after scoring seven unanswered runs after the third inning. Matthew Davis went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.

The game started as a bit of a pitchers' duel, with neither club scoring through the first three frames. Burkholder did not allow a baserunner during Venice's first time through the order.

In the top of the fourth, Venice catcher Matthew Kassowitz drove in the game's first run. His RBI single plated Timothy Ravare, who notched two of Venice's three hits on the night.

Burkholder stifled Venice after that, however, finishing with 10 strikeouts in seven dominant innings.

Harrisburg quickly grabbed the lead with three in the bottom half of the fourth. After scoring another run in the fifth, Harrisburg put the game out of reach with three more in the sixth.

The victory put Harrisburg in the championship game against Tampa RBI. The showdown will take place at 7 p.m. CT at Target Field.

Venice RBI 10, Pawtucket RBI 0
The Venice RBI Juniors played one of the tournament's most complete games Wednesday night to advance to the finals of the RBI World Series.

They defeated Pawtucket RBI in a game that was cut short after five innings by the 10-run rule.

Morgan Lomax increased his tournament batting average to .500 with his 3-for-3 night Wednesday. Scott Ogrin and Aaron Greenfield, meanwhile, each went 2-for-3.

Venice RBI scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. They scored multiple runs in every inning except a scoreless third.

Pawtucket certainly had its chances, putting runners on base in every frame. But Micah Wallette danced in and out of trouble, tossing a shutout while striking out six.

With the win, Venice RBI advanced to the Junior Division championship game at 2 p.m. CT Thursday at Target Field.
