Hawkins won't go on DL with right triceps issue
PITTSBURGH -- LaTroy Hawkins will not go on the disabled list before the All-Star break because there are just two days left before a four-day spell, Mets manager Terry Collins said Saturday.
Hawkins, 40, last pitched on Wednesday and has been dealing with a lingering right triceps issue likely stemming from the two innings he pitched on July 6 in Milwaukee, Collins said.
He was unavailable Friday, but said before the game Saturday he'd be able to give the Mets an inning if needed. The club used five relievers in a 3-2 loss to the Pirates in the series opener.
