Healing Gio continues to throw without issue
PITTSBURGH -- Nationals left-hander Gio Gonzalez threw on flat ground for the second day in a row, this time with manager Matt Williams in attendance. Pitching coach Steve McCatty said he threw free and easy and will likely throw again at Nationals Park on Monday.
Gonzalez has been on the disabled list since last Sunday because of shoulder inflammation and started throwing by Saturday.
The Nationals are hoping he will miss just two starts, but it may be a little longer than that. He has to have a bullpen session and must make a rehab start before he returns to the big league field.
