Brewers place Perez on paternity list

June 22nd, 2016

OAKLAND -- The Brewers placed infielder Hernan Perez on the paternity list Tuesday and recalled rookie Yadiel Rivera, whose latest stint in the Majors is expected to span just two games.
Perez traveled to Chicago following Sunday's series finale in Los Angeles to be with wife Johanna, who was expecting a daughter. The couple already has a young son, a left-handed slugger renowned at Miller Park for his epic bat flips following Nerf-ball home runs in the tunnel outside the home clubhouse following Brewers games.
The labor has been planned for some time. Perez is expected back in uniform for the Brewers on Friday against the Nationals.
"I'm going to enjoy day that I'm here," said Rivera, who made the Brewers' Opening Day roster but was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on May 12 after batting .196 in 17 games of limited duty. "It's all part of the process."
