Hoskins, Thompson, Crawford Earn Organizational Honors for the Month of June

Reading first baseman Rhys Hoskins, Lehigh Valley right-hander Jake Thompson and Lehigh Valley shortstop J.P. Crawford have been selected as the Phillies Minor League Hitter, Pitcher and Defender of the Month, respectively, for June.

Reading first baseman Rhys Hoskins, Lehigh Valley right-hander Jake Thompson and Lehigh Valley shortstop J.P. Crawford have been selected as the Phillies Minor League Hitter, Pitcher and Defender of the Month, respectively, for June.
The 23-year-old Hoskins batted .351 (39-111) with nine doubles, 13 home runs, 33 RBI, 11 walks, 26 runs, a .784 slugging percentage and a 1.198 OPS in 27 games. He had multiple hits in 13 of those contests and multiple RBI in nine of them. Hoskins' 13 home runs were tied for the most by any player in the major or minor leagues during June, and his 33 RBI were tied for second most. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder is leading all of minor league baseball in home runs (24) and is second in RBI (75). He ranks second in the Eastern League in hits (91), slugging percentage (.574), extra-base hits (43) and total bases (182). Hoskins was selected by the Phillies in the fifth round of the June 2014 draft.
Thompson, 22, made five starts in June, going 3-0 with a 0.76 ERA (3 ER, 35.1 IP), 0.96 WHIP (8 BB, 26 H), 18 strikeouts and a .211 opponents' batting average. His ERA in June was the lowest in the minor leagues and second-lowest in professional baseball among pitchers with at least 25.0 innings pitched in the month. The right-hander has made 16 starts for Lehigh Valley this season, recording quality starts in 10 of them and posting a 2.76 ERA, which ranks seventh-best in the International League. Thompson was acquired by the Phillies from Texas on July 31, 2015 along with five other players in exchange for Cole Hamels and Jake Diekman.
Crawford, the Phillies' first-round (16th overall) pick in the June 2013 draft, made only two errors in 26 games with Lehigh Valley last month. The 21-year-old started his triple-A career with 29 consecutive errorless games (May 20-June 21), and has posted a .979 fielding percentage overall this season with the club (4 E in 192 TC).
