Hosmer, Young named Royals Player, Pitcher of the Month for May

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June 2, 2015) - The Kansas City Royals announce that first baseman Eric Hosmer is the Royals Majestic Player of the Month for May, while right-handed pitcher Chris Young is the club's Pitcher of the Month. The player award is determined by a combined fan and media vote, with the pitcher award voted on by local media.

Hosmer led the Royals with a .296 average, four home runs and a .520 slugging percentage. He posted a 12-game hitting streak from May 3 to 15, batting .367. This is Hosmer's seventh Royals Player of the Month honor since his 2011 debut.

Young is the Pitcher of the Month in his second month with the Royals. He compiled a 3-1 mark and a 1.45 ERA over six appearances, including five starts. Young held opponents to a .179 batting average, third-best among American League pitchers.

Fans have the opportunity to vote for the Royals Majestic Player of the Month all season long by visiting area Kansas Sampler and Rally House locations or the Royals Majestic Team Store at Kauffman Stadium.
