Host of legends to grace All-Star FanFest
Blyleven, Carew and Molitor among Hall of Famers slated to greet fans in July
It is a rite of every summer: long lines of fans packing the T-Mobile All-Star FanFest to gather free autographs from some of the greatest players in Major League Baseball history.
On Thursday, MLB announced the list of Hall of Famers, Twins legends and past stars who are scheduled to make appearances from July 11-15 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, signing for fans and participating in question-and-answer sessions and player-led kids clinics.
Hall of Famers to participate include T-Mobile All-Star FanFest spokespeople Bert Blyleven, Rod Carew and Paul Molitor, plus Orlando Cepeda, Andre Dawson, Rollie Fingers, Fergie Jenkins, Juan Marichal, Gaylord Perry, Ozzie Smith and Dave Winfield.
Joe Mauer, the 2014 MLB All-Star Ambassador, will be there, as will other current and former Twins, such as Eddie Guardado, Jim Kaat, Corey Koskie, Tony Oliva, Brad Radke and Jeff Reardon. Mauer is scheduled for a Diamond Clinic and photo opportunities with fans on the morning of Gatorade All-Star Workout Day, to be held on July 14, and he'll be present for a Q&A session and more photo opps on the morning of the Midsummer Classic.
In addition, fans will be treated to appearances by members of the 1987 Twins World Series championship team, including Blyleven and American League MVP Frank Viola, as well as members of the '91 Twins World Series championship team, including MVP Jack Morris and Rick Aguilera. Two-time Twins World Series champions Greg Gagne, Kent Hrbek, Gene Larkin and Al Newman will also be on hand.
Autographs are free once fans enter the FanFest; it comes with the cost of admission into the overall event.
