Hot-hitting Robinson draws another start

ATLANTA -- Shane Robinson drew another starting assignment on Friday, making this the fourth time in the team's last five games that Robinson has been in the lineup. Three of those starts -- including the one on Friday -- have come against left-handed starters.

But when asked if a platoon situation was emerging with Robinson and Jon Jay, manager Mike Matheny cautioned against attaching such a label.

"I wouldn't say that's where we are," Matheny said on Friday. "[We are] recognizing that he's playing very well and when opportunities like today pop up against a lefty, we'd like to keep him going while we can. That gives us freedom when a tough lefty comes around that if we need someone out there… that we're able to make the move pretty easy."

Robinson has earned the chance for increased exposure, having gone 5-for-11 in his three starts since the All-Star break. He entered Friday 7-for-14 in July; Jon Jay is 17-for-62 during that same span.
