Less than two weeks after winning his 200th game, Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson made a generous donation to his alma mater, Auburn University, giving $1 million to the Tigers baseball program.

Hudson, who played for the Tigers in 1996-1997, was named the 1997 Rotary Smith Award Winner as the top player in college baseball. He went 15-2 with a 2.97 ERA that season, leading the nation in wins on the way to being named the SEC Player of the Year. Hudson’s donation will go towards upgrading Samford Stadium-Hitchcock Field and is expected to help promote recruiting. Other players to come through the Auburn program include Bo Jackson, Gregg Olson and Frank Thomas.
