Pence, Belt OK, but get another day of rest

DENVER -- Giants manager Bruce Bochy sounded upbeat Friday about the health of right fielder Hunter Pence and first baseman Brandon Belt, though neither was in the lineup for the series opener against the Colorado Rockies.
Bochy pondered starting Pence for the first time since last Friday but wanted to see how his strained right hamstring responded to an active pregame regimen.
Bochy deemed Belt fit to play, calling his left ankle sprain "very mild." However, Bochy wanted to let Belt heal for at least one more day before returning him to the lineup.
Jarrett Parker started in right field for Pence, while Buster Posey moved out from behind the plate to start at first base.
