SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Royals manager Ned Yost confirmed on Wednesday what club officials have hinted at over the offseason, that right-hander could be a bullpen candidate at some point this season.
"It's something we've been mulling over," Yost said. "We've got about 10 guys we are considering candidates for the rotation. We'll see."

Bailey not a bullpen candidate
Right-hander , signed last week after being released by the Dodgers in December, was not at camp in the morning, but Yost said he expected Bailey to arrive at some point Wednesday.
Bailey has spent his entire MLB career as a starter, and Yost said that's how they view him with the Royals.
"We want to give him a chance to compete for a starting job," Yost said.

Hahn likely headed for extended spring
Right-hander , who underwent UCL repair surgery in August, will continue to work out with the Royals in camp as he recovers.
"He'll definitely stay here [for extended spring workouts]," Yost said. "Realistically, his Spring Training will start right about the time we leave. Hate to put a timeline on it, but maybe [a return in] June if all goes well."

Yost appearing in mobile-phone ad
Yost also confirmed that yes, that is indeed a flash shot of him in a recent Verizon commercial. But Yost said he has been sworn to secrecy about his involvement in the ad campaign.
"Let's just say there's more to come," Yost said. "Watch the Oscars."
Hmmm. It would seem likely that Verizon is featuring Yost because an incident from November 2017, when having cellphone reception almost surely saved his life. Yost was alone on his Georgia farm and fell 30 feet to the ground from a tree stand, shattering his pelvis.
