Iglesias getting chance to rest ailing legs

KANSAS CITY -- Shortstop Jose Iglesias was held out of the Tigers' lineup on Friday night as manager Jim Leyland looks to give Iglesias a little more time to recover from shin splints in both legs.

"He's doing good," Leyland said. "I'm going to give him another day." Coupled with the off-day on Thursday, Iglesias is getting a two-day break. Ramon Santiago drew the start at shortstop on Friday for the opener of a three-game series against the Royals.

Iglesias left Wednesday's series finale in Boston early with the shin splint soreness.
