Indian place Rafael Perez on the 15-day disabled list

LHP Nick Hagadone Recalled From AAA Columbus

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has placed LHP RAFAEL PEREZ (strained left latissimus) on the 15-day Disabled List, retroactive to April 26.  To replace Perez on the Major League roster LHP NICK HAGADONE has been recalled from Triple-A Columbus.

Perez suffered the injury during his scoreless 1.0-inning appearance on Wednesday, April 25 vs. Kansas City.  So far this season he is 1-0 with a 3.52 ERA in 8 relief appearances (7.2IP, 5H, 3R/ER, 4BB, 4K).  Today marks his first career stint on the Major League Disabled List in his 7-year big league career.  He is eligible to come off the DL on May 11.

Hagadone begins his second stint in Cleveland tonight, having split the season to date between Triple-A Columbus and Cleveland. He was with the Indians from April 17-22 where he went 0-0 with a 2.70ERA in 3 relief outings (3.1IP, 2H, 1R/ER, 1BB, 4K, .154AVG).  With the Columbus Clippers this season he has recorded 7.1 shutout innings while holding International League hitters to a .167 (4-24) average against, including a 1-for-7 (.143) mark vs. left-handed hitters.  He worked 2.0 scoreless innings on April 25 vs. Toledo in his only outing to date after his April 23 option.  He wears #50.
