Indians add Mike Barnett and Scott Atchison to Major League coaching staff

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following additions relative to the Major League coaching staff: Named Mike Barnett Major League Replay Coordinator and Staff Assistant and named Scott Atchison Major League Advance Coach and Staff Assistant.

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cleveland Indians today announced the following additions relative to the Major League coaching staff:
Named MIKE BARNETT Major League Replay Coordinator and Staff Assistant.
Named SCOTT ATCHISON Major League Advance Coach and Staff Assistant.
Barnett, 57, will serve as the main communication liaison between the dugout and clubhouse replay system during games and he will assist Indians coaches with other daily functions. The Ohio University graduate and Columbus, OH native spent the last three seasons as the Minor League Hitting Coordinator of the Toronto Blue Jays. He was previously the Major League Hitting Coach of Toronto (2002-05), Kansas City (2006-08) and Houston (2011-12), where he served on Brad Mills' staff. He also served as a hitting coach at all levels of the White Sox system from 1990-97, where he worked with Terry Francona, before moving to the Diamondbacks organization.
Atchison, 39, ended his 17-year playing career in 2015 after appearing in 93 games for the Indians in 2014-15 and 298 games in total over a nine-year Major League pitching career. The native of Ft. Worth, TX will assist the club's advance scouting process, provide analysis of upcoming opponents, and disseminate advance content to coaches and players. He will also work closely with the club's pitching coaches on a daily basis.
