Indians Face Twins (Sept. 28-Oct. 1), Red Sox (Oct. 2-4) in Final Homestand of 2015 Regular Season

LINDOR MAKING A CASE FOR ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Francisco Lindor, who made his debut in mid-June, not only has been one of the best rookies in the second half, but one of the best players in the American League, period.

Among AL rookies, Lindor ranks:

  • first in average (.320)
  • second in on-base percentage (.358)
  • second in hits (116)
  • fifth in RBI (47)

CARLOS CARRASCO NAMED ROBERTO CLEMENTE NOMINEE

Carlos Carrasco has been named the Cleveland Indians 2015 nominee for the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award presented by Chevrolet. Carrasco, who's also come into his own on the field - he ranks sixth in the AL in strikeouts this season -- has sought out opportunities to make a difference in the lives of Cleveland-area kids and students.

Those efforts include:

  • Luis Munoz Marin School: Carrasco visited kids in grades K-8 at the inner-city school, stressing the importance of reading to the students. He also donated books to the school and students.
  • Indians Youth Baseball Camp: Carrasco has visited summer camps a few occasions to teach children the game's fundamentals.
  • Oberlin College students: Met with Spanish-as-a-second-language students from the school to detail his challenges in speaking his native tongue in a new country.

Fans can visit ChevyBaseball.com to help vote Carrasco as the 2015 Roberto Clemente recipient. Voting ends Friday, October 9.
