The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the 2017 Spring Training roster:
Signed free agents RHP STEVE DELABAR and RHP TRAVIS BANWART to Minor League contracts with non-roster invitations to Major League Spring Training camp.
Delabar, 33, owns a career Major League record of 15-9 with a 4.07 ERA in 190 relief outings with the Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays and Cincinnati Reds since debuting with the Mariners in 2011. He was selected to the American League All-Star team in 2013, posting a 3.22 ERA in 55 appearances with the Blue Jays (58.2IP, 50H, 21ER, 82SO). He split the 2016 season between Triple-A Louisville and Cincinnati before being granted his release at the end of June.
Banwart, 30, has spent the last two and half seasons pitching in the Korean Baseball League after spending the first half of the 2014 season in the Indians organization with Triple-A Columbus, posting a mark of 5-2 with a 3.13 ERA (31ER/89.0IP) in 16 starts with the Clippers before being sold to the SK Wyverns of the KBL. He owns a career Minor League record of 58-42 with a 4.11 ERA in 194 games/162 starts (946.0IP, 958H, 432ER, 770SO) after beginning his career in the Oakland A's organization (4th round, 2007 out of Wichita State).
