Indians invite C Anthony Recker to Major League camp

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has signed free agent C ANTHONY RECKER to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League camp.
Recker, 32, has opened the last four seasons on a Major League roster, splitting the 2015 season between the New York Mets and the Triple-A Las Vegas 51's. He began his professional career in 2005 following his selection by the Oakland A's in the 18th round of the First-Year Player Draft out of Alvernia College. The Allentown, PA native made his Major League debut with the Athletics in 2011 and spent the last month of the 2012 season with the Chicago Cubs prior to being claimed on waivers by the Mets following the 2012 campaign. This past season he batted .245 (23-94) with 3 2B, 8 HR & 21 RBI in 27 games in AAA Las Vegas (.896 OPS) and made 23 starts behind the plate for the National League champion Mets.
