Joba set to come off DL, join team in Seattle

June 5th, 2016

CLEVELAND -- Indians reliever Joba Chamberlain is expected to rejoin the club on Monday, when the team begins a 10-game road trip with a four-game set in Seattle.
Prior to Sunday's 7-0 win over the Royals at Progressive Field, Indians manager Terry Francona said that Chamberlain would return on time. The right-hander was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 22 with a strained left intercostal.
"We will activate him tomorrow," Francona said. "After the game today, we will have to [make a roster move]. We are not going to fly someone all the way to Seattle unless something happens."
Chamberlain worked through a 20-pitch mound session on Saturday afternoon and recovered as expected from his first simulated game. Prior to his DL stint, Chamberlain posted a 1.93 ERA with 15 strikeouts and six walks over 14 innings.
