The American League-leading Indians will put their 22-game win streak on the line tonight when they host the contending Royals as part of today's full slate of Major League action streaming live on MLB.TV.
Cleveland has set an American League record for consecutive victories, and they are now chasing the 1916 New York Giants, who hold the Major League record with 26 wins in a row. The Tribe rallied to beat Kansas City in 10 innings on Thursday, so what will they do for an encore today?
Trevor Bauer will take the mound for the Indians, as he looks to become the first AL pitcher this season to reach 17 victories. The Royals will counter with left-hander Jason Vargas. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET at Progressive Field.
"I like our chances," Indians outfielder Jay Bruce said.
Cleveland began this historic streak with a 13-6 victory over the Red Sox on Aug. 24, and have since swept the Royals, Yankees, Tigers, White Sox, Orioles and the Tigers again.
The win streak is not the only thing at stake for the Indians tonight. There are also postseason implications, as Cleveland looks to maintain its slim lead over the Astros for the best record in the AL, which provides home-field advantage in the playoffs.
The Royals, meanwhile, remain in the mix for the second AL Wild Card, as they continue to chase the Twins in the standings.

Rays return to Tampa: BOS@TB, 7:10 p.m., MLB.TV
The Rays return to Tropicana Field in the wake of Hurricane Irma to open a three-game series against the Red Sox. The Rays have played just three games at The Trop since Aug. 24.
Chris Sale starts for the Red Sox, who lead the Yankees by three games in the AL East. Boston's ace is 4-1 with a 2.06 ERA in five starts against the Rays this year with 57 strikeouts in 35 innings.
Matt Andriese gets the ball for the Rays, who are also chasing the Twins for the second AL Wild Card.

NL elites clash: LAD@WSH, 7:05 p.m., MLB.TV
In a preview of a potential postseason matchup, the Dodgers visit the Nationals for the opener of a three-game set in tonight's MLB Network Showcase game. The Nats have already clinched the NL East, while the Dodgers lead the D-backs by 9 1/2 games in the NL West.
"I don't think we need to make a statement," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "But I do think it's important for us to play good baseball."
Alex Wood takes the mound for the Dodgers in his first start against the Nationals in more than two years. The left-hander went 10-0 with a 1.67 ERA in the first half, but since coming off the disabled list for a second time Sept. 3, Wood has allowed nine runs in 11 innings.
Edwin Jackson toes the rubber for the Nationals, who trail the Dodgers by five games for the best record in the NL, which provides home-field advantage in the postseason.

Marlins host Crew in Milwaukee: MIL@MIA, 8:10 p.m., MLB.TV
The Marlins will play as the home team in this three-game series against the Brewers at Miller Park. The series was shifted from Marlins Park to Milwaukee at the request of the Marlins and MLB while Miami recovers from Hurricane Irma.
Jose Urena starts for the Marlins, who will become the fourth Major League team to play regular season home games at Miller Park. The Marlins join the Brewers, Indians and Astros on that list. The Indians played the Angels in 2007 because of a spring snowstorm in Cleveland. The Astros then hosted the Cubs in '08 while Houston was hit by Hurricane Ike.
The Brewers have not named a starting pitcher as the club tries to piece together a rotation in the aftermath of a season-ending injury to starter Jimmy Nelson. Milwaukee is 2 1/2 games behind the Rockies for the second NL Wild Card.
"It's going to be largely a bullpen day," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said.
