Indians make several roster moves

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Placed C YAN GOMES on the Paternity List.

Purchased the contract of C GEORGE KOTTARAS (#53) from AAA Columbus

Recalled LHP NICK HAGADONE (#50) from AAA Columbus.

Designated INF ELLIOT JOHNSON for assignment.

Gomes left the team last night to be with his wife, Jennifer, who is expecting the couple's first child. He is hitting .261 (23-88) with 5 doubles, 3 home runs and 10 RBI in 26 games for the season. The maximum stay on the Paternity List is 3 days.

Kottaras (coh-TERRIS), 30, signed with Cleveland on April 3 as a Minor League free agent after spending

spring training with the Chicago Cubs, who acquired the Toronto native from Kansas City in November. He was assigned to the AAA Columbus Clippers upon signing with the Indians and has appeared in 9 games thus far (2-25, .080).

Hagadone, 28, has spent the entire season at Columbus, going 1-2 w/a save and a 3.97ERA in 10 relief appearances (11.1IP, 12H, 5ER, 6BB, 13K). Over his last seven outings he owns an ERA of 1.17 (7.2IP, 5H, 1R/ER, 11K) for the Clippers and he has limited left-handed Triple-A batters to a .222 (4-18, all singles) average against.
