Indians place INF Lonnie Chisenhall on DL; Recall INF Jason Donald from AAA Columbus

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has placed INF LONNIE CHISENHALL on the 15-day Disabled List with a fracture of his right ulna. To replace Chisenhall on the Major League roster INF JASON DONALD has been recalled from Triple-A Columbus.

Chisenhall suffered the injury Friday night in Baltimore when he was struck just above his right wrist by a Troy Patton pitch (5th inning).  For the season with Cleveland he is hitting .278 (20-72) with 2 doubles, 3HR and 9 RBI in 24 games.  Over his last 10 games since June 15 he is hitting at a .367 clip (11-30, 6RS, HR, 6RBI).  This marks his first career stint on the Major League DL.

Donald has split the 2012 season between Cleveland and Columbus, opening the campaign on the big league roster before being optioned to the Clippers on May 12.  With Columbus he has hit .252 (38-151) with 7 doubles, 3 triples, 2HR and 18RBI in 40 games (3SB, 26RS, 22BB, .354on-base pct).  He hit for the cycle on June 19 at Charlotte.  Defensively he appeared in 21 games at shortstop for Columbus in addition to appearances at second base (5G), third base (6G), left (5G) and center field (4G).  With Cleveland he appeared in 16 games and was 8-for-45 (.178) and made appearances at short, second, third and left field. He will be in uniform tonight in Baltimore wearing #16.
