Indians place RHP Corey Kluber on 15-day DL; recall RHP Matt Langwell from Columbus

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Placed RHP COREY KLUBER on the 15-day Disabled List with a right long finger sprain.

Recalled RHP MATT LANGWELL (#55) from AAA Columbus.

Kluber suffered the injury last night in Cleveland's 4-2 loss to Detroit in Progressive Field. So far this season Corey is 7-5 with a 3.54 ERA in 21 games/19 starts (122.0IP, 120H, 48ER, 26BB, 116K). It is his first career stint on the disabled list.

Langwell has split the 2013 season between Columbus and Cleveland and is beginning his third stint with the Indians. With the Indians he is 1-0 with a 5.06 ERA in 5 relief appearances over two stints in June (5.1IP, 5H, 3R/ER, 2BB, 6K, HR) and picked up his first Major League win on June 28 at Chicago-AL (G2). At Columbus he has gone 3-3 with 2 saves and a 2.64 ERA in 34 games/1GS (47.2IP, 46H, 14R/ER, 19BB, 40K, .254AVG) and over his last 11 games since July 3 he owns an ERA of 1.38 (13.0IP, 12H, 2ER). At Triple-A right-handed hitters are batting .178 (19-107) and overall batters are hitting .205 (18-88) with runners on base.
