Club Appoints James Quinlan Head Athletic Trainer

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians promoted LONNIE SOLOFF to Senior Director of Medical Services and named JAMES QUINLAN Head Athletic Trainer.

Soloff, the club's Head Athletic Trainer from 2004-13, will take on an expanded role in research and development pertaining to physical development, performance enhancement and injury prevention while assisting club executives in short-term and long-term injury risk assessments relative to strategic amateur and professional player personnel decisions. Lonnie will continue to supervise the organization's Athletic Trainers, Strength & Conditioning Coaches and Team Physicians, overseeing injury treatment, rehabilitation systems and physical development at both the Major League and Minor League levels.

Quinlan, 32, served as the club's Minor League Rehabilitation Coordinator from 2008-11 after joining the organization the previous season. In 2012, James was elevated to the Head Athletic Trainer position of the Tribe's Triple-A affiliate, the Columbus Clippers, a position the Havertown, PA native held over the last two campaigns.

James graduated from Temple University in 2003 and received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Widener (PA) University in 2007. Quinlan, who began his career in baseball as an Athletic Training intern with the Phillies in 2003, is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).

The rest of the Major League Athletic Training staff will remain intact with JEFF DESJARDINS (5th season) serving as the lead Assistant Athletic Trainer and MICHAEL SALAZAR (3rd season) as Assistant Athletic Trainer.
