Indians recall LHP Nick Hagadone from AAA Columbus

INF Asdrubal Cabrera Placed on Bereavement List

CLEVELAND, OH  –  The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has recalled LHP NICK HAGADONE from the AAA Columbus Clippers.  Also the club has placed INF ASDRUBAL CABRERA on the Bereavement List, retroactive to Monday, April 16.

Hagadone, 26, began the year at Triple-A Columbus where he has made four (4) scoreless relief appearances, covering 5.1 innings (2H, 0R, 1BB, 5K).  Thus far in the early season, International League hitters are 2 for 16 (.125) off him, including an 0-for-5 mark by left-handed batters.  The early regular season results come at the conclusion of a solid spring for the resident of Seattle, Washington (9G, 2.53ERA, 10.2IP, 12H, 3ER, 7K).  Hagadone is returning to Seattle where he pitched for the University of Washington from 2005-07.

Cabrera has returned to his native Venezuela after a death in his immediate family.  So far this season, he is hitting .282 (11-39) with 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 3RBI and 8 runs scored in 8 games (.846OPS, T5th in the AL in runs scored). Players must stay on the Bereavement List a minimum of 3 days with a maximum of 7 days.
