Cleveland Indians seeking nominations for second annual Mentor of the Year contest

The Cleveland Indians again are seeking nominations for the club's now annual Mentor of the Year contest.

The initiative began last year on the heels of Terry Francona being named the American League Manager of the Year; the Indians then sought to find and honor other great leaders in the Cleveland and Northeast Ohio communities. 

The Indians are again asking fans to submit nominations for this year's award by emailing a one-page nomination on why their nominee should be considered to [email protected]. Please use "Mentor of the Year" in the subject line. Nomination deadline is Monday, Dec. 15.

There are no limitations on who nominees can be or what walk of life they come from: Teachers, volunteers, CEOs, community activists, coaches, politicians and anyone else is eligible. The only criteria: They must be making a difference in other people's lives and working to make Northeast Ohio a better place through leadership efforts. 

Finalists will have the opportunity to visit Progressive Field and tell us on camera why they're great leaders, and fans then will vote on the winner. The winner and he or she who nominated the winner will have the opportunity to meet Terry during Tribe Fest weekend, Jan. 23-25 at Progressive Field.
