Indians select RHP Dace Kime in third round of MLB Draft

In the third round of today's First-Year Player Draft the Indians selected junior RHP DACE KIME from the University of Louisville with the 79th overall selection.

Kime, 21, is 5-1 with a 3.14 ERA in 25 games/8 starts this year for the University of Louisville (66.0IP, 63H, 23ER, 20BB, 79K, 1HR, .257AVG). The eighth-ranked Louisville baseball team plays this weekend at Vanderbilt in the NCAA Super Regional. Kime began the season in the bullpen before entering the starting rotation mid-year and had a three start stretch from April 30-May 12 where he had a 0.96 ERA over 18.2 innings (3-0, 2ER, 25K). He has recorded 146 strikeouts in 131.2 innings during his 3-year Louisville career (10SO/9.0IP).

Dace was previously selected in the eighth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates after earning All-American, All-State and All-League honors during his career at Defiance (OH) High School. As a senior, he was 7-1 on the mound with a 1.31 ERA and 108 strikeouts after being named a Preseason Louisville Slugger All-American.
