Indians-Tigers rained out, twin bill on Sunday

CLEVELAND -- The Indians have been enjoying a strong run at home over the past month. While other teams visiting Cleveland have had a hard time slowing the Tribe's momentum, Mother Nature caused problems for the Indians on Friday night.

With a steady rain pounding the tarp covering Progressive Field in the hours leading up to the scheduled start time of Cleveland's game against rival Detroit, and an ominous forecast on the radar, the Indians and Tigers postponed their game on Friday. The clubs will make up the game as part of a traditional doubleheader on Sunday, beginning at 1:10 p.m. ET.

Saturday's 7:10 p.m. ET game is unaffected by Friday's rainout.

Due to the postponement, Indians right-hander Cody Anderson (3-3, 3.72 ERA) and Tigers righty Justin Verlander (3-7, 3.43 ERA) -- Friday's scheduled starters -- will square off in Saturday night's tilt. Game 1 on Sunday will feature Trevor Bauer (11-11, 4.47 ERA) of the Indians against Detroit lefty Matt Boyd (1-3, 6.75 ERA), and Game 2 will pit Tribe righty Carlos Carrasco (12-10, 3.70 ERA) against lefty Randy Wold (0-3, 6.55 ERA).

The Indians took the first game of this four-game set, 7-5, on Thursday, giving Cleveland a six-game winning streak at home. Cleveland has won 10 of its past 11 home games and headed into Friday only four games back of the American League's second Wild Card spot. With a win, the Indians (69-70) would reach the .500 mark for the first time since April 10 (2-2).

Fans who had tickets to Friday's game who want to attend Sunday's twin bill must exchange their tickets at the Progressive Field ticket office. Anyone who does so can attend both games for the price of one. The ticket office will open at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday and at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday. Fans unable to attend on Sunday can exchange their tickets by Sept. 25 for one of two eligible games (Oct. 2 or Oct. 3 against Boston).
