Injured Henderson set to play catch

MILWAUKEE -- The pain in his right shoulder having dissipated, Brewers reliever Jim Henderson will resume throwing a baseball on Sunday.

Henderson was placed on the 15-day disabled list May 2 with inflammation in his shoulder, which explains why the former closer has experienced diminished velocity so far this year.

"I guess we'll see how it goes after playing catch," Henderson said. "I've been doing strengthening exercises all week long, and it's been getting stronger. Pain-free with all of the movements we've been doing. That's all positive."

Sunday's session will be light throwing from 60 feet. Henderson will have to slowly build back to the mound, and he will probably go on a Minor League rehabilitation assignment before returning to action. That process could take several more weeks.
