MIAMI -- Jackie Bradley Jr. registered a play on Tuesday night at Marlins Park that is sure to go on his 2018 highlight reel, when he raced in to make a diving, tumbling catch to take a hit away from Justin Bour.
It was a key play in an eventual 4-2, 13-inning victory by the Red Sox over the Marlins.
Bour was the leadoff batter in the second inning, and he looked primed to have a hit when he sliced Chris Sale's 0-2 fastball to left-center.
With left fielder Andrew Benintendi also in pursuit, Bradley took matters into his own legs and glove, swooping in for the sweet grab.
According to Statcast™, Bradley had to cover 65 feet in four seconds and had a catch probability of 32 percent, making it a 4-star grab. Last season, Bradley had five 4-star catches and five 5-star catches. Only Adam Engel (6) of the White Sox had more 5-star catches in 2017.
"I did have to go a long way but I was fortunate enough to make a play," said Bradley. "It's hard to get those [5-star] catches, you know?"
Though Bradley somehow hasn't won a Rawlings Gold Glove Award yet in his career, he has a collection of dazzling catches in the archives to accompany the latest one on Tuesday.
Sale was in awe at his teammate's latest sensational grab.
"I feel like I shouldn't be surprised anymore," said Sale. "I'm thinking, it's a base hit. For him to come up with it, it's huge. He just continues to put on a display out there and obviously impress. It's hard not to ooh and ahh over what he does out there in center field -- it's ridiculous."
