PHOENIX -- Jake Lamb powered the D-backs to a 7-3 record on their last road trip, swinging a hot bat throughout the month of June.
When they returned home for a three-game set against the Phillies on Monday, Lamb continued to produce. The same can't be said about the team, however, as Wednesday's 9-8, 10-inning loss marked the third game of a sweep by Philadelphia.
"It's obviously frustrating," Lamb said. "We were in those games and gave it up late. Those are tough."
Lamb did his part once again offensively. He homered for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, powering a three-run shot to straightaway center field to put Arizona ahead, 3-2, in the first inning.
He went 2-for-5 for his eighth multi-hit performance in the last 13 games. During that stretch, the D-backs third baseman is batting .404 with five home runs and 15 RBIs.
"I'm just trying to have quality at-bats, that was my one goal at the beginning of the year was just to have as many quality at-bats as possible," Lamb said. "I've just got to keep it going."
Lamb is proving that he may be worthy of representing the National League at the All-Star Game presented by MasterCard in two weeks. He is batting .288 with team-highs in homers (17) and RBIs (55).

When D-backs manager Chip Hale was asked prior to Wednesday's game if he's been surprised at how much Lamb has provided offensively, he quickly rejected the notion.
"This is the development that we saw, that's the reason that we were excited about him," Hale said. "It's exciting to see, and he's going to get better and better."
Lamb's 17th homer was his ninth in June. That is the second-most by a D-backs player in the month -- Luis Gonzalez hit 12 in June 2001.
It wasn't a perfect day for Lamb though. He committed his 12th error of the season during the eighth inning on a tough hop of a grounder hit by Odubel Herrera, allowing a run to score, tying the game at 7.
"It just handcuffed me a bit," Lamb said. "It's a tough play, but it's got to be made. I need to work on it."
