PHOENIX -- D-backs third baseman Jake Lamb will have the fraying in his left rotator cuff repaired on Aug. 15 in Los Angeles by Dr. Neal ElAttrache.
The surgery will end Lamb's 2018 season, but by getting it done now, he should be ready to go when Spring Training opens next year.
"We're pleased with that," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "It was a decision that Jake made that he wanted to have the surgery and that was the guy that he wanted to have do it. We obviously want to get it done as soon as possible and get him charging and ready for a healthy Spring Training."
Another day for A.J.
Outfielder A.J. Pollock had a regularly scheduled day off Sunday, but he was once again out of the lineup Monday night against the Phillies with lower body fatigue.
Pollock said he would be back in the lineup on Tuesday.
"His legs were a little bit fatigued, he told me, and I made the decision," Lovullo said. "We've got a month and a half of really important baseball games to play and we have to make sure he's 100 percent. I could have sent him out there at 80-85 percent, but I didn't think that was the best thing to do today."
