Jake Thompson's recent run of dominance continued on Friday night as fired seven scoreless innings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, which shut out Buffalo, 10-0.
Thompson, the Phillies' No. 2 prospect, scattered three hits -- his second straight start allowing exactly three hits over seven innings -- issued one walk and struck out five in the game, which also saw the right-hander generate 12 ground-ball outs. Overall, he threw 59 of his 93 pitches for strikes.
The No. 48 overall prospect arguably has been the most consistent hurler in the Minors since the calendar flipped to June, winning five of his eight starts in that span while posting a stellar 0.64 ERA over 54 1/3 innings. During that stretch, meanwhile, the 22-year-old righty has lowered his overall ERA to 2.42 from 4.23.
Pacing the IronPigs at the plate was No. 56 overall prospectNick Williams (Phillies' No. 3), who doubled, scored twice and plated two in his first four-hit game at the Triple-A level. Much like Thompson on the mound, Williams, 22, has been thriving at the plate since the beginning of June, hitting .309 with 22 extra-base hits and 20 RBIs over his last 36 games.

"The first half, I didn't feel like myself," Williams told MiLB.com. "I felt like I was trying to make the big leagues in every at-bat and worried about all the wrong things. It's not in my control, so now I'm just trying not to do too much and take myself out of the game. I'm having fun rather than worrying about my last at-bat or the next one.
"I've been hitting the ball really well the last couple of games," he said. "Even when I got out, I felt like I was hitting the ball hard, but it just was right at somebody. When that would happen, I would just think, 'Man, I got the worst luck.' But lately, they've been falling for hits."

• No. 20 overall prospect Jose De Leon (Dodgers' No. 2) set a season high with 10 strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City, giving him 54 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings for the year. He allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks in the outing, with 59 of his season-high 102 pitches going for strikes.
• A night after hitting a pair of home runs, No. 40 overall prospect David Dahl (Rockies' No. 2) hit a grand slam as part of his second straight three-hit game to lead Triple-A Albuquerque past Memphis. The 22-year-old outfielder has now gone deep five times in eight games since joining the Isotopes, and he's raking at a remarkable .543 clip (19-for-35) with 12 RBIs in that span.

• No. 89 overall prospect Matt Olson belted a three-run homer and collected multiple hits for a second straight game to pace Triple-A Nashville's offense in a win over El Paso. It was the 10th homer of the season for the A's No. 2 prospect, who also notched his 24th double as well as four RBIs while finishing 3-for-4 with a walk.

• Mariners No. 5 prospect Luiz Gohara matched his season high with nine strikeouts and picked up his second win in three starts for Class A Clinton, firing six innings of two-run ball against South Bend. The Brazilian left-hander permitted five hits and one walk in the outing while finding the zone with 56 of his 78 pitches. Overall, Gohara, 19, has gone 4-0 in six starts between Class A Short Season Everett and Clinton this season, recording 41 strikeouts against nine walks in 32 innings.
• Brewers No. 8 prospect Cody Ponce picked up his first win of the season as he struck out eight in six innings for Class A Advanced Brevard County against Jupiter. The 2015 second-rounder allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits, marking the first time in three starts he's been scored on, and he's fanned 25 hitters over 17 frames in that span.
• Rangers No. 8 prospect Leody Taveras notched his first professional home run and extended his hitting streak to seven games with a 2-for-4 night at the plate for the Rangers' Arizona League affiliate. Signed for $2.1 million last July, the 17-year-old outfielder has hit .267 over 20 games since making the jump stateside from the Dominican Summer League.
• For a seventh straight game, Tom Murphy collected multiple hits. A night after he hit for the cycle, the Rockies' No. 9 prospect went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Triple-A Albuquerque's victory over Memphis. During his torrid stretch, the 25-year-old backstop has gone 21-for-28 at the plate (.750 average) with 11 extra-base hits including five home runs, 11 runs scored and 11 RBIs.
• Pitching in relief as part of Class A Quad Cities' piggyback starting rotation, Astros No. 10 prospect Albert Abreu recorded his third save of the season as he fired four innings of one-hit ball against Fort Wayne. The 20-year-old right-hander punched out five in the outing to improve his season strikeout total to 89 through 73 1/3 innings.
• Twins No. 10 prospectAdam Walker played the hero as he connected on a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead Triple-A Rochester past Norfolk, 8-6. The blast was Walker's 17th in 82 games for the Redwings, and it puts him two back of Columbus' Jesús Aguilar for the International League lead. The 24-year-old slugger has been on a tear this month, hitting .378/.451/.644 over 12 games.

• Rangers No. 22 prospect Ronald Guzman hit his career-best 13th home run as he went deep for the third time in five games for Double-A Frisco in a win over Corpus Christi. The 21-year-old finished the contest 3-for-5 to improve his season battling line to .302/.364/.505, and he's now hit safely in 14 straight games for the RoughRiders.
"In the offseason, I worked a lot with a weighted bat," Guzman told MiLB.com. "I expected to have a better year hitting home runs but also wanted to hit the ball harder, which has happened. I don't worry about hitting home runs. I know that if I hit the ball hard, it will carry because of the work I did."

• In his first start since suiting up for the World squad in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, Blue Jays No. 23 prospect Angel Perdomo fired six scoreless frames to pace Class A Lansing in a 3-0 shutout of Peoria. The 6-foot-6 lefty scattered five hits and struck out eight in the performance while throwing 68 of his 95 pitches for strikes. More importantly, Perdomo allowed zero free passes in a game for the first time this season. Overall, the 22-year-old has pitched to a 2.51 ERA in 79 innings and is tied for second in the Midwest League with 104 strikeouts.
