Loney goes 2-for-5 in debut for winning El Paso

Padres affiliates Triple-A El Paso, Double-A San Antonio and high Single-A Lake Elsinore scored their first wins of the season Friday night.
The Chihuahuas (1-1) scored an 8-6 victory at Reno as first baseman James Loney went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI in his debut in the Padres' organization. Loney was signed by the Padres as a minor league free agent Thursday and immediately added to the El Paso roster when left-handed pitcher Robbie Erlin was recalled by the Padres.
Second baseman Carlos Asuaje was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for El Paso. Third baseman Alexi Amarista had a double in two at-bats with two walks and two runs scored.
Starting right-handed pitcher Daniel McCutchen picked up the win despite allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
Right-hander Leonel Campos allowed a hit with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings. Left-hander Michael Kirkman struck out two Aces in a perfect eighth and right-hander Cory Mazzoni picked up the save with a perfect ninth.
The Chihuahuas evened their record at 1-1.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (1-1) - MISSIONS 5, Springfield 4: LF Nick Torres hit a two-run homer in two at-bats with two runs scored. 2B Taylor Lindsey added a solo homer. CF Auston Bousfield was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Starting RHP Bryan Rodriguez allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. RHP Kyle Lloyd allowed a run on a hit and two walks with four strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. RHP Jason Jester struck out one in a perfect ninth to get his first save.
HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (1-1) - RANCHO CUCAMONGA 6, Storm 4: 3B Fernando Perez and DH Josh Van Meter each hit a two-run homer to account for all the Lake Elsinore runs. Otay Ranch High product Perez was 2-for-4 and is off to a 3-for-8 start. Starting LHP Thomas Dorminy allowed five runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings to suffer the loss. The three unearned runs scored after an error by SS Javier Guerra. LHP Brad Wieck allowed two hits with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. RHP T.J. Weir struck out the side around a hit in a scoreless eighth.
LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (0-2) - LAKE COUNTY 3, TinCaps 2 - Starting RHP Austin Smith allowed all three runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings to suffer the loss. LHP Will Headean issued two walks and struck out two in 1 2/3 scoreless innings. RHP Jean Cosme worked four scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks with a strikeout. 2B Peter Van Gansen was 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. DH River Stevens was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
