Luebke pitches scoreless inning as rehab shifts to Triple-A El Paso

Center fielder Travis Jankowski opened the Double-A Texas League All-Star Game with a home run Tuesday night.

Jankowski finished the game 2-for-4 with a triple and home run.

Right-hander Justin Hancock allowed a run on two hits with a strikeout in an inning for the South in the game won 9-4 by the North at Corpus Christi. San Antonio right-hander Tayron Guerrero suffered the loss, giving up two runs (on a homer) on three hits in an inning.

Meanwhile, left-hander Cory Luebke allowed a hit and a walk with a strikeout in a scoreless inning as his rehab assignment moved from San Antonio to Triple-A El Paso Tuesday night.

There was one move in the Padres system Tuesday. Infielder Benji Gonzalez was promoted from high Single-A Lake Elsinore to El Paso to replace second baseman Jedd Gyorko, who was recalled by the Padres.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (39-39): Fresno 10, CHIHUAHUAS 5 - RF Rymer Liriano (.286) was 3-for-4 with his seventh homer, three RBIs and two runs scored. Starting RHP James Needy (6-5, 7.05 ERA) allowed seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings. RHP Nick Vincent (3.42) allowed a run on three hits with a strikeout in an inning. LHP Chris Rearick (5.92) allowed two hits and a walk with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (32-43): The Missions were off for the Texas League All-Star break.

HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (33-43): VISALIA 6, Storm 3 - 1B Marcus Davis (.270) was 2-for-4 with his sixth homer and two runs scored. Starting RHP Ronald Herrera (3.96 ERA) allowed two runs on two hits with a walk and three strikeouts in four innings. RHP Adys Portillo (0-1, 11.25 ERA) allowed four unearned runs on three walks and no hits in one-third of an inning. RHP Genison Reyes (5.11) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. LHP Chris Nunn (6.95) allowed a hit with a strikeout in two scoreless innings.

LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (34-39): Bowling Green 7, TIN CAPS 2 - DF Nick Torres (.328) was 0-for-3 as his 14-game hitting streak ended on his 22nd birthday. RF Franmil Reyes (.244) was 3-for-4. Starting RHP Dinelson Lamet (3.98 ERA) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in three innings. LHP Brandon Fry (1-2, 5.51) allowed three runs on four hits in two innings. RHP Brian Verbitsky (2.53) allowed a run on three hits with four strikeouts in three innings.

SHORT-SEASON SINGLE-A TRI-CITY (6-7): EUGENE 9, Tri-City 4 - 3B Carlos Belen (.255) had two doubles in three at-bats with three RBIs and a run scored. LF Jose Carlos Urena (.275) was 2-for-4 with a run scored. SS Peter Van Gansen (.308) was 2-for-4. Starting RHP Angel Mejia (1-1, 6.00 ERA) allowed five runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in four innings. RHP Aaron Cressley (0.00) struck out one in two perfect innings.

ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (3-6): Angels 7, PADRES 4 - DH Jhonatan Pena (.306) was 2-for-5 with a double and a RBI. RF Ronaldo Contreras (.241) was 2-for-4. Starting RHP Manuel Gonzalez (0-2, 7.00 ERA) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (13-14): PADRES 2, Blue Jays 0 - RF Luis Asuncion (.230, 2-for-4) and DH Emmanuel Arias (.254, 1-for-3) hit back-to-back homers in the eighth to break up the scoreless tie. 3B Elys Ugueto (.212) was 2-for-4. Starting RHP Dari Lopez (2.04 ERA) allowed a hit and two walks with four strikeouts over three scoreless innings. LHP Cristian Machuca (2.79) allowed three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in three scoreless innings. RHP Jonathan Guzman (1-1, 0.93) issued three walks and two strikeouts in two hitless innings. RHP Luis Perez (0.00) gave up two hits and a walk with a strikeout in the ninth to preserve the shutout and get his first save.
