The Royals made several roster moves on Tuesday, activating outfielder Jarrod Dyson from the disabled list, optioning Reymond Fuentes to Triple-A Omaha, placing right-hander Dillon Gee on the paternity leave list, and recalling right-hander Miguel Almonte.

More interesting, perhaps, is who wasn't sent to the Minors -- speedster Terrance Gore, who has one job on this team, and that is to steal bases.

But Royals manager Ned Yost also pointed out that another reason Fuentes was sent out instead of Gore was so that Fuentes could continue to get regular playing time. And that wouldn't be the case with Dyson back in the lineup.

"It would limit Fuentes' playing time dramatically," Yost said. "We don't want him sitting on the bench. We want him playing every day and continuing to work on his defense, so when we have a need, he'll be ready."

Keeping Gore made the most sense, Yost said.

"We don't pinch-hit for anyone," Yost said. "With Gore, we can use him."

Fuentes was 5-of-21 (.238) during his time with the Royals. Dyson was 7-of-22 (.318) during his rehab stint with Omaha.

Dyson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in his return to action Tuesday in K.C.'s 8-6 win over the Tigers.

"I'm just glad to be back mingling with the fellas," Dyson said before Tuesday's game. "I'm ready."

Gee returned to Texas to be with his wife, KariAnn, who gave birth to their first daughter, Charlotte, on Monday. Yost said he expects Gee back with the Royals by Thursday.
