Heyward hits first HR with Cubs

March 7th, 2016

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Jason Heyward made his first Cactus League hit in a Cubs uniform a hard one.
Heyward, who signed for eight years and $184 million over the winter, launched a pitch from the Rockies' Jon Gray 385 feet -- with an exit speed of 107.64 mph -- onto the right-field berm at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in the first inning. Heyward entered the game 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
In the third, Anthony Rizzo upstaged Heyward with his first hit and homer -- 452 feet to straightaway center, 112 mph off the bat.
The Cubs led, 2-0, after Rizzo's blast, but eventually lost the game, 4-2.
