HOUSTON -- A day after the Astros thumped the Blue Jays for 16 runs on 18 hits, Marco Estrada guided Toronto to a series-tying 4-3 victory in 10 innings, holding down Houston's adept offense, which leads MLB in runs, hits, doubles, home runs and batting average.
"I threw the ball well," Estrada said. "Started off a little shaky the first few innings, felt better as the game went on. … They have a very talented team over there, and they're young. It's a tough lineup, and they're still missing two of their guys [injured Carlos Correa and George Springer]. It's good to get a win out of this."
Estrada held the Astros to five hits, striking out seven in seven innings. Other than a jam he escaped in the seventh inning and early-game home runs by Josh Reddick and Tyler White -- both on offspeed pitches -- Estrada was blazing more than half of his offerings past the Astros, tossing 69 four-seam fastballs on 104 total pitches.
"Threw a bad pitch to Reddick, and he hit it out," Estrada said. "I wasn't sure if it was going to go out, actually, but it got just enough. Obviously, walking the guy in front of him. That's what drives me crazy."

Estrada, who's lasted seven innings in each of his previous two starts without allowing more than three runs in either, allowed a single and a double to begin the seventh before recording three straight outs with runners on second and third.
That's when Estrada was at his best, manager John Gibbons said.
"He was in a big-time jam, but you know what, he's a master at that since Day 1 that he got here," Gibbons said. "Nobody better working out of jams, especially late in the outing when he knows it's probably his last inning. I've seen him doing it over and over."
