TORONTO -- Reinforcements are on the way for the Blue Jays, but shortstop Troy Tulowitzki may need an extra day on his rehab stint before joining the team for its two-game series in Atlanta.
"I wouldn't think tomorrow," said manager John Gibbons on Tuesday, referencing the original hope of a Wednesday return. "Maybe the next day. We'll see how today goes."
Tulowitzki played five innings at shortstop for the Class A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays on Monday, and he took three at-bats as their designated hitter in a game early Tuesday. Tulowitzki was originally scheduled to see his first rehab action this past Saturday, but he was held out of the lineup due to wet field conditions.
Ceciliani called up in roster shuffle
Prior to Tuesday's game against the Braves, the Blue Jays recalled outfielder Darrell Ceciliani from Triple-A Buffalo and optioned reliever Leonel Campos.
Ceciliani was hitting just .145 with a .345 OPS in Triple-A, but he represented one of the few healthy positional players on Toronto's 40-man roster. This move leaves the Blue Jays with a three-man bench and an eight-man bullpen.
Pearce headed to Dunedin to rehab calf
Gibbons said left fielder Steve Pearce will be heading to Dunedin late Tuesday or early Wednesday to rehab from a calf injury he sustained on Sunday.
Pearce underwent an MRI exam after the injury, but the Blue Jays do not yet have a timeline for his return. For the time being, Ezequiel Carrera will resume full-time duty in left field, with Ceciliani serving as a reserve outfielder. Ryan Goins, Darwin Barney and Chris Coghlan are also depth options at the position should that be needed.

• Francisco Liriano is making progress in his recovery from inflammation in his throwing shoulder. The left-hander last pitched on Wednesday, allowing seven earned runs in just two innings against Cleveland.

"He's feeling a lot better," Gibbons said. "I know he played some catch yesterday. He'll get out on the mound probably the next couple days, test it out. But he's felt a lot better."
• Russell Martin has been doing some light on-field work in recent days as he recovers from nerve inflammation in his left shoulder, though much of that process will rely on patience. Martin is eligible to return from the DL on Thursday, but there is not a firm timeline at this point.
"[He's] just waiting for the strength to come back," Gibbons said Tuesday. "It wiped out most of the strength in that thing. But little by little it's coming back. Really, you've just got to let that nerve calm down enough. When something's hitting on that nerve and it's irritated, it zaps the strength out of there."
• Gibbons confirmed that Mike Bolsinger will stay in the rotation and start on Saturday against the Orioles. Following that start, the Blue Jays have off-days on Monday and Thursday of next week, which will create the opportunity for some rotation flexibility. Gibbons said that it will also allow the club to take its time in bringing Liriano back.
• The Blue Jays have brought back catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia on a Minor League deal. The 32-year-old opened the season on the Major League roster, but he was released after opening 1-for-25 (.040). Saltalamacchia will join the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
