BOSTON -- A day removed from officially being taken out of the Orioles' rotation, Ubaldo Jimenez said he's going to do everything possible to get back on track.
"We still have four more months of the season to go, so I have to find a way to help the team out," he said. "It doesn't matter how."
Jimenez, who went 3-7 with a 6.89 ERA in 13 starts -- after going 12-10 with a 4.11 ERA in 32 games last year -- was told by manager Buck Showalter on Tuesday that he'll be in the bullpen.
"It was pretty clear that I wasn't doing my job and obviously they have to find a way or someone that can get the job done," said Jimenez, who was moved to the 'pen in 2014.
"I wouldn't say that going to the bullpen that year helped me," Jimenez said. "Obviously, if you're in the bullpen you don't have a lot of time to work because you have to be ready for whenever. But I did improve. I kept fighting and I found a way to survive in 2014, and that's what I'm looking forward to doing. Keep working. And however I can help the team out, that's what I'm going to be doing."
Asked about his confidence, Jimenez acknowledged it's been a tough month but that he believes in his abilities.
"My confidence is never going to go down. I keep my head up, no matter what, and I know that if I get back on track, I can help the team out," he said. "It doesn't matter how."
