It took him a week to get going, but Joey Gallo is settling in at the plate.
MLBPipeline.com's No. 9 overall prospect had his best game of the spring Friday, going 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in a win over Milwaukee. The homer, his first of the spring, came in his first at-bat in the top of the second inning, when the left-handed slugger blasted a 2-1, belt-high fastball from starter Matt Garza well over the right-field fence.
After collecting one hit and striking out in six of his first eight at-bats to open spring training, Gallo is 3-for-6 with three walks and zero strikeouts in his last three contests.

Gallo wasn't the only prospect to homer in the game, however, as Brewers No. 18 prospectMichael Reed connected on a long home run to right-center field off of Rangers right-hander Nick Tepesch. Meanwhile, Rangers Nos. 10 and 15 prospects Josh Morgan and Ryan Cordell both made highlight-reel plays, with Cordell running down a ball in deep right-center, and Morgan, who entered the game at second base, making an impressive back-handed, short-hop pick on a groundball up the middle en route to a force out.

More notable performances by top prospects
• Though it was just his first game in big league camp, Cardinals No. 4 prospect Magneuris Sierra made a strong impression with his performance on both sides of the ball in a win over the Braves. Sierra, 19, showed excellent range and speed in center field and collected a pair of singles, with the second one plating the go-ahead run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jacob Wilson (No. 16) also swung the bat well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two steals. For Atlanta, Nos. 1 and 3 prospectsDansby Swanson and Ozzie Albies each collected a hit in the loss, and Albies also made a heck of a play at shortstop.

• Astros No. 6 prospectColin Moran stayed hot with a pair of doubles in his only two at-bats in a win against Detroit, and he's now hitting an even .500 on the spring. Tyler White (No. 13) also collected multiple hits in the game, finishing 2-for-5 with an RBI, while A.J. Reed, MLBPipeline's No. 40 overall prospect started at first base and was 1-for-3 with a double. Tigers No. 10 prospectSteven Moya smashed his third home run of the spring, a solo shot off of Ken Giles in the fourth inning.
• Phillies center fielder Roman Quinn, MLBPipeline's No. 99 overall prospect, collected his third triple of the spring and drove in a run in a win over the Braves, and shortstop J.P. Crawford (No. 5 overall) and outfielder Tyler Goeddel (Phillies No. 18) each notched one hit.
• Rays No. 22 prospectTaylor Motter went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI double against the Pirates, strengthening his case to make the Opening Day roster as a super utility player. Motter made his first spring start at second base in the game and also has seen time at third base, shortstop, right and left field. He's now six for his last nine with three extra-base hits. Speaking of hot hitting, Pirates No. 6 prospectHarold Ramirez went 1-for-2 with a double to improve his spring average to .625 (10-for-16)

• Red Sox No. 7 prospectSam Travis delivered a clutch, game-tying home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth -- a booming shot off the hitter's eye in straightaway center field -- against the Blue Jays, though Boston ultimately lost the game in extra innings.

• MLBPipeline.com No. 71 overall prospectJose Peraza hit a solo home run off John Lackey and collected three of the Reds' seven hits in a loss to the Cubs. Robert Stephenson (No. 35 overall) started for the Reds and allowed two earned runs on three hits in three innings, striking out three. Cubs No. 20 prospectDan Vogelbach was responsible for one of the runs allowed by Stephenson, as he took the right-hander deep in the third inning for his first home run of the spring.
• Making his highly anticipated spring debut, left-hander Julio Urias, MLBPipeline.com's No. 4 overall prospect, struck out the side in his first inning of work but failed to record an out in the following frame and ultimately took the loss after allowing three earned runs on three hits and a walk. Dodgers No. 12 prospectAustin Barnes went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, his second in his last three games. Though he didn't enter until the eighth inning, Angels No. 10 prospect David Fletcher went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs.

• White Sox No. 29 prospectMatt Davidson was bumped up to fifth in the batting order Friday and responded by going 2-for-4 in a win over the Padres, improving his spring average to .412. Courtney Hawkins (No. 9) made his first spring knock count, hitting a solo homer in the top of the fifth inning.
